My arrival on the art scene was very late, having spent much of my working life as an Air Traffic Controller in South Africa and thereafter a few creative years as a florist. I have no formal art education, but have always had a tremendous creative drive. I have had some highly successful group and solo exhibitions - in various countries.
My inspiration in painting comes from many years spent in the bright sunny and colourful landscapes and under the wide open skies of Africa, Italy and Greece. I love colour and texture and greatly admire the Impressionists.
As well as painting and pewter work, I also make jewellery and I am famous for my chunky sculptural silver bangles! My jewels can be seen on houseofmani.com
I was co-owner and manager of The Headcorn Art Gallery in 2003/04.
I am a member of the Arts Club Stoupa in Greece, as well as the Pilgrims Way Art Group in Lenham, Kent, UK and the International Polymer Clay Association. Past membership includes South East Open Studios, Ashford Visual Artists and Art South East. I was also Secretary and Sub-editor of South East Open Studios as well as Membership Secretary of Ashford Visual Artists.
My studio near Agios Nikolaos, Mani, Messinia, Greece is open for visits by appointment.
